EDUCATIONAL THERAPY

Extensive research shows that cognitive education has produced measurable, meaningful progress when compared to content education. Our Educational Therapy program is designed to mold students into intellectual, inquisitive readers and writers by developing effective, independent learning skills.

Our approach to remediation is to train the cognitive processes that are required before achievement area skills can be mastered. The first part of the Educational Therapy program excludes curriculum content to concentrate upon these cognitive skills. Once your child demonstrates improvement in cognitive functioning, a subject of choice (math, reading, or writing) is added so that he or she can begin to use and practice the newly acquired skills. Several cognitive tools (thinking tools) make up the program, with each tool addressing a different set of learning processes. Ultimately, our program will help your child learn how to learn so that content knowledge is gained through application, not memorization.
