The No Miracle Transformation program is a developmentally oriented curriculum designed to teach children (ages 3-7) a set of mental tools that are essential to developing learning abilities. The goal of the program is to collaborate with learners in the shared experience of performing a task. The program is based on Vygotsky’s theory of learning in children. Vygotsky found that from earliest childhood we learn the mental tools of memory, problem-solving, communication, and social cognition from interactions with adults. The adult “scaffolds,” or holds up, the child’s cognitive processes until the child is able to hold up his/her own cognition. Gradually the child internalizes what has been learned from the adult until it becomes automatic.
